Deliver a card with the delivery workflow

Take one Ready card to a review-approved PR, in your session or from a shell.

Goal: run the delivery cycle on a single card and get one review-approved pull request.

Prerequisites

  • A Ready card with a task breakdown (Refinement)
  • pair skills installed; for the shell path, an engine on the PATH (claude, codex, pi or opencode)

Steps

  1. Start the cycle
    • In your assistant: /pair-workflow-cycle <id> (Claude Code, Codex, or pi with subagents).
    • With pair-cli: pair-cli run --card <id> on any engine, from a shell, cron or CI.
    • With /pair-assistant (optional, Claude Code): not involved; it configures the gates, it never drives a card.
  2. Let the stages run
    • A fresh card runs implement → verify → merge: tests and code are written together, an independent reviewer verifies the exact PR head, and merge only runs when your merge gate allows it. Blocking review findings add a remediation round, prepare → validate → green → verify, where the failing test is written and sealed before the fix.
  3. Pick up the result
    • It stops at a review-approved PR (the default until: pr), or at an escalation with one comment on the card naming the reason. You merge; or declare until: merged with a merge gate to let the cycle do it (Autonomy).

Verify

  • One PR exists for the card and the pair-review check is green on its head.
  • The card is in review on your board; the run directory under .pair/working/runs/ holds one handoff per stage.
