Configure card states, DoR/DoD and the process profile

Map your board columns to pair macrostates, set readiness criteria and run a subset of the process.

Goal: make pair read your board correctly and run only the process steps you want.

Prerequisites

  • A PM tool set up (PM tools)
  • Access to .pair/adoption/tech/way-of-working.md

Steps

  1. Map your board states
    • In your assistant: /pair-capability-setup-pm writes the ## State Mapping table (Board State | Macrostate) into way-of-working.md; or add it by hand.
    • With /pair-assistant (optional, Claude Code): "map not-planned to Done".
  2. Review Definition of Ready and Done
    • In your assistant: read the criteria in the Knowledge Base and add project tier requirements to the Review Tier Matrix in way-of-working.md.
    • With /pair-assistant (optional, Claude Code): ask to show the current DoR/DoD and propose a diff.
  3. Pick a process profile
    • In your assistant: set ## Process Profile in way-of-working.md to profile: default, poc or custom plus a whitelist of step ids.
    • With /pair-assistant (optional, Claude Code): "use the poc profile".
  4. Start light
    • In your assistant: /pair-process-bootstrap $mode: quick.
    • With /pair-assistant (optional, Claude Code): ask for a quick bootstrap.

Verify

  • /pair-next suggests steps consistent with your profile.
  • A card moved on the board changes the state /pair-next reports.
