Brainstorming

Turn a raw idea into a Draft backlog of epics and stories with /pair-process-brainstorm, step by step with a worked example.

Goal: go from one sentence ("let customers pause a subscription") to a Draft epic and story tree in your PM tool. About 20 minutes. This is the first step of the analysis and refinement workflow.

Prerequisites

  • pair installed and bootstrapped (Quickstart)
  • a PM tool configured (PM tools)
  • a PRD in .pair/adoption/product/ (brainstorm reads it, never edits it)

1. Start the session

/pair-process-brainstorm let customers pause a subscription

The skill explores your PRD, adoption files and existing backlog first, so it asks only what it cannot read.

In your assistant: the command above; brainstorming is interactive and has no unattended form.

2. Answer the interview

/pair-capability-grill asks one question at a time, each with a recommendation. Accept it or answer differently.

Q3. Does a paused subscription keep its renewal date?
Recommendation: no, the period is extended by the pause length.
> yes, keep the date, we bill on pause end

Terms you sharpen (here, "pause") are recorded in the domain context map.

3. Review the triage

Brainstorm proposes a tree. Each candidate is checked against the backlog and marked EXTEND #ID (fold into an existing card) or CREATE.

Epic: Subscription pause CREATE
Story: Pause from account page CREATE
  Story: Resume automatically CREATE
Story: Email on pause EXTEND #88

Edit the proposal until it matches your intent. Nothing is written yet.

4. Confirm

On your yes, the cards are created as Draft in the PM tool. The PRD is untouched.

What you have
